Treatment for Autism has been available at Touchstone Naturopathic Centre since 2005. Scott Clack, ND has successfully treated over 300 children with ASD (Autistic Spectrum of Disorders), in addition to ADD, ADHD and other Learning or Behavioural disorders.
The greatest success for patients and parents is through following a complementary approach, where each child is under the care of an MD, ND and other health care professionals (nutritionists, Biofeedback specialists, etc.). Many of the patients treated here have been using this approach.
Current treatments and/or services available include:
-
Lab testing: standard medical screening tests, ICMT Labs, Great Smokies Labs, Doctor's Data Labs, Great Plains Labs etc.
-
Electrodermal screening: using the Vega Test method of biofeedback testing, to determine allergies (food, environmental) and other factors compromising health.
-
Nutritional consultation for gluten and casein free diets.
-
Therapeutic nutritional supplements (e.g. Enzymes, antifungal agents, vitamins, minerals, etc.) Use of supplements can be confirmed by Applied Kinesiology testing.
-
NAET: Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique, a treatment using Acupressure to improve or restore tolerance to allergens.
-
Electro Therapeutic Point Stimulation (ETPS): electroacupuncture, along with traditional acupuncture has been helpful in reducing hyperactivity in some children.
-
Homeopathy: Constitutional (single remedy prescribing), and combination drainage remedies. Homeopathy helps stimulate a person's innate healing functions to correct imbalances or blockages. It is used for detoxification, immune stimulation, and nervous system balancing. The Brain Protocol, developed by doctors working with Unda in Europe and North America , is a very promising treatment.
-
CranioSacral Therapy: correcting spinal blockages that impair nervous system function, using very gentle manipulation of muscles and skin over key areas of the spinal system.
The medical training received by Naturopathic Doctors provides an effective means of blending science-based use of natural therapies and other alternative approaches. If parents and children are unable to find a family physician who is interested or willing to work with new findings and testing methods, Scott Clack is able to arrange for the testing and prescribe appropriate supplements for treatment.
