The Vega Test is classified by the BDDT - Naturopathy (i.e. Ontario Naturopathic Regulatory Board) as an Experimental/Research system. It has demonstrated clinical efficiency for over 30 to 35 years, representing the refinement of the original research and clinical trials of Dr. Voll, a German physician and dentist. Eelectroacupuncture test methods uses a small probe to test the electrical conductivity of selected points along the body's acupuncture meridians. Values above or below a normal base line value indicate the increased or decreased function of the organ associated with that meridian (e.g. Gall bladder, liver, etc.). In the course of researching these bioenergetic regulatory processes, it was discovered that simply touching the skin with a given substance is enough to change the skin resistance measurement. Technical innovations and new insight have led to modifications over the years that now permit testing at one acupuncture point. The current Vega Test system requires the practitioner to test either your hand or foot while you hold an electrode. The test instrument measures the electrical conductivity of your skin as it is influenced by ampoules placed in the circuit, or that have been stored electronically in the system. These ampoules help to assess the function of various organs, detect the relative sensitivity to various food substances or other allergens, or the presence of various infectious agents (bacteria, viruses, molds, fungi, parasites) or heavy metals.
